But this one is really interesting. Tells you your personality by the picture you pick. You are constantly in danger of bringing down the house, because you don't play well with others.">
Which File Extension are You?

Man, it's summer and I'm still procrastinating. (Ie: should I write a sonnet or read my Bio summer reading...hard choice...)

Two things that have been immensely fun over the summer: horsebackriding and volunteering at West Hills Hospital. Mostly I file, but sometimes I run errands, or distribute stuff, or bring a patient something or other. (Two people asked if I was a nurse...that amused me. ^_^) Random amusing tidbit: the people at the pharmacy, and the people at the lab, which you'd expect to be relatively similar in personality, are polar opposites. The people at the pharmacy are boring and bland, while the people at the lab are funny, boisterous, and occasionally throw soft and cushy things at each other. I, however, work in neither, but occasionally drop and/or pick stuff up there.

Summer is a beautiful thing. Too bad we have to have winter to distinguish it.

Okay, here goes:

1) Total number of books owned: Not counting.

2) The last book I bought: Oy, I dunno...people seem to be buying me books as of late...probably a manga series called Remote.

3) The last book I read: As I Lay Dying by Faulkner for Am. Lit.

4) Five books that mean a lot to me that I really liked:
1. To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee. Favorite, favorite, favorite book on the planet.
2. The Giver by Lois Lowry.
3. Holes by Louis Satcher
4. Lilly's Crossing by Patrica Rilly Giff (Haven't read it in ages, but I really liked it.)
5. Shards of Honor by Lois McMaster Bujould

5) Tag 5 people and have them fill this out in their ljs:
Dammit, everyone I know has already been tagged, except...*checks*...no that's everyone. Nyeh.

6.) I'm adding another one, so if y'all want to post this too, go ahead. *Post five books you really want to read*
1. The Hitchicker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
2. The Inferno by Dantes.
3. Pride and Predjudice by Jane Austin. (I actually got a quarter through but put it down, because I was busy.)
4. Baewolf, so Christine and Rebecca won't lynch me. (Don't we read it in Brit. Lit anyway?)
5. Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton

End of the Year Mania

Yesterday there was a coyote in our yard, trying to pry open a rat trap. This was one dang persistant coyote. He was at it for quite a while, and spent the night too. My dad said, speaking for the coyote: "Hmm? What is this thing? It has a rat inside, but isn't dirt or wood. And it's really chewy..."

We finished watching U5471 in AP world. Ah, sub movies. At least this one was historical. There so predictable though... First, Hey, y'all, we're happy navy people on land having a good time. Then, oops, some dasterd political/millitary thing happened! Now we're unhappy navy people on a sub. Meanwhile, the XO and Captain bump noses. Then they float around for a while. Then they meet up with an enemy vessel. They have some mission, and something goes horribly wrong. This is usually the part were the engineer of some sort has to go into some flooded chamber to fix something critcal, fixes it, and drowns. *Melodrama* Then, *bumbadabaa* they triumph! Yey, triumph! Finally, if you're really lucky, they'll actually resolve the plot they started with. --But hey, they're sub movies, and that makes them relativly entertaining by themselves. Yey, leaky bubble with men getting bounced around like popping corn kernals!

I need a new project to work on, now that I finished my Ave Maria. But I have to start organizing for finals. For starters, I should actually really study for math and chem this time, and I need to read a bunch of stories in lit that I never read. You'd be proud of me Justin...lol. And, hehe, I probably shouldn't leave my portfolio to the night before like last time...even though I got a hundred percent! ^_^ But hey, no AP final! Weeeee!

I started practicing piano again this week, now that the crazyness of last week is over. I missed you, Mozart! (Even if you're a pain in the ass to play) Last week was: Monday--drama under the stars; Tues--SAT session, liturgical choir, me madly finishing the cello and flute part, and the awards ceremony, which I was late too and missed my award; Weds--Choir rehersal with Middle School and band run-through, Thursday--morning crazyness with Parent's day mass and Band Concert, Friday--Choir rehersal, Saturday--Choir concert at the Middle School, Sunday--Choir concert at the highschool. Oh, the insanity!

Got more yearbook signatures, that made me happy. And I will get yours John Chew!! You cannot escape me!! ^_^

I have a huge-ass religion test tommarow on all the sacrements *finalcoughcough* This is annoying. But not that annoying. Eh, c'est la vie. All I can say is, Rachel's shoebox, here I come!!

Greatest religion class ever: Watched a home-made movie on "reconcilliation" by Dylan Campbel, Alex Misky, Connor Chambers, and a few others, as well as an interesting activity where we wrote our "sins" on paper and put them through a paper shreader. What's interesting about that, you say? This:

Me: But if God is supposed to represent the paper shreader, doesn't that mean he occasionally gets jammed?

Ms. Firestone: Ah, but God is the ultimate paper shreader! He never gets jammed!

I will treasure that forever. *contented sigh*

APs--bleh...

I've officially decided that, due to my symtoms of fatigue, crabbiness, headaches, and, the most telling, chocolate cravings, APs cause students to P.M.S.

This is a really bad time for my grandparents to visit. Poor them.

My mom came home with chocolate cookies, baked by a certain Mrs. Kahn. I actually don't know the spelling, but that's what went through my brain. Chabi Khan, leave my brain alone!

Oh, this sucks: Friday, after two days of no Chem lab (or very reduced thereof), Mr. Buck went home sick. Ack! Now I have to do Chem and study for AP! (Note: I've decided to abreviate rather than to force my brain to think about spelling. What an evil contraption, spelling is...I've always wondered how I would survive spelling in a forign language, because I sure as hell couldn't spell in English. The good news is that French doesn't have crzay exceptions. The bad news is: it's French. 'Nough said.)

AP review at Rebecca's tommarow. Hope my lack of facts three days before the test isn't too embarassing.

And for good mesure: God bless Mr. Cadena, for his extreamly cool existance.

Crazyness

I was just looking over a copy of my term paper for lit, which is already turned in, and of course some very annoying tiny grammer errors or awkward spots pop out. Ah well. My comfort is that Ms. Burman will probably be so jaded by the time she gets to mine she hopefully won't notice.

On a happier note: I finished the AP World book! Muahahahaha! Now I have to study, while doing the 400 point review project he assigned. Ug. And my choir project. And my religion project. Okay, shoot me now.

At least Chemistry is going well. (And I spelled it properly! Yes!) I have a A- in the class, which is pretty damn good considering I had a C+ last semester. Last semester sucked. Really sucked. Except for drama. But then again, I have an 83 in math. The sad part is, I have 100 in hw, a 90ish average on quizzes, and a 73 on tests. Thank you, stupid mistakes. Though I could have worked a little harder at some points, I suppose.

Well, now that I've compleatly anylized my academic life, I can only envy the seniors with green-eyed jelousy. And I really must get started.

In a period of four days I went to Chinatown, Little Tokyo, the downtown farmer's market (huge!), saw "Late Night Catachism" a show that gently makes fun of Catholisism (great for spring break from Chaminade), The Grove (a great shopping center downtown), Venice Beach, and Magic Mountain. Wow.

The above additions to my usually drull and mundane schedual are part of what my family decided to do over spring break as part of a "family retreat"ish thing. It turned out pretty good. The idea was, instead of going on vacation, which we were unable to do due to the collage decision craze (the real March Maddness) and Maddie's robotics competition, that we would do all sorts of stuff in L.A. that we'd never done before. Other interesting things that happened during that period: my parents finally watched the Incredibles (hehe), I saw a guy wearing a turban play electric guitar while roller-skating (Venice Beach), and also picked a favorite clothing store, which is a first for me. (I know, I'm weird.) It's called Anthropologie; it has really original stuff, and it's also pretty expensive, so it's not the sort of thing you'd go to for everyday wear. But it's a lot of fun to look around in even if you aren't getting anything.

Things on the to do list: hw, pick up a book, hw, write, hw, compose stuff and actually write it down, hw, AP project...oh wait that's...hw, and more hw. Fun. But at least I have all day to do it, and don't have to shove it in between school and all my other activities.

I confess, I'm rather worried about The upcoming AP World Test. I guess it's like taking a final you know is gonna be really hard, but even still. The fact of the matter is I've never studied that much for any test, not even finals or normal AP tests this year. So I'm a little vauge on how to do it--I mean I supose with enough time and effort I can get organized, but studying has always been difficult for me simply because I don't like to focus on it. ADD strikes again. Gahh.

Well, tis all for now. I'm going to check pottersues to see if anyone else made witty replies.

Chemistry Test Eve

This post is here for the express purpose of giving fair warning to everyone about the prayer service Tues, if Catlin has not already told you. It is not the stations of the cross, but something called a "reverse advent." Oh my... this is weird. In case you haven't already gathered, I'm in it. I had already come to the meeting because Ms. Firestone asked me to sing a song for it; oh, how naive and unsuspecting I was!! Now, I... well, you'll all see Tuesday won't you? (Ahhh, I'm not even Christian...well, half, but that's not the point...) Be afraid. Very afraid.

On a lesser note, my tofu is wearing my needle hat. Good night.

Happy Pi Day, Everyone!

And I still don't have any pie. Or Pi for that matter, but that's harder to have as it's a concept. Tricky, isn't it?

I'm such a nerd. Ah well. I'm off to do homework and maybe some nerdy leisure activities. Yey, nerdy leisure activities!

Oh, and just a note, if you haven't seen the following movies, see them by any means possible: Finding Neverland, Shall We Dance, the Laws of Attraction, and the Flight of the Phenix.

Forkie and Needle-head forever!!!

Oh my, I spent 5:00-6:30 doing nothing but READ. For FUN. Time, time, what a beautiful thing! It makes me want to sing!

Congratulate me: I've gone throught books 1-5 and 1/2 of Harry Potter in less than three weeks...which must be some sort of record.

Oh, super-uber-coolness! I was talking to Ms. Firestone about some religious-oriented music I composed (and am in process of writing down) and she wants me to finish it for the parents day mass! How cool is that!

And of course, drama rocked. My needle-hat survived, though no one knew what I was (or bothered to look in the program for that matter...) Strike was cool, until no one needed me anymore...how sad. But it was fun anyway. Now I'm having the usual drama withdrawal symptoms...singing BOG when I'm suposed to be reading AP, ect. Yet, on the other hand, reserved seating was another matter: what a nightmeare. For Friday we had 210 orders alone, half of which were only just taken that Friday at lunch! Yeah, that sucked. But we also made 4,000 dollars Friday night. That did not suck in the least.

Oh, I got the soundtrack to Finding Neverland! (for those that don't know, it one the Best Original Score Oscar, and it was well desreved too. My thoughts mirror what my mother exclaimed after it was awarded, "Yes! There's some justice in this world!" It's really quite increadible, both the soundtrack and the movie. For those that haven't seen, WATCH. If you don't, I just may have to strap you down and force feed it too you...

I'm rather happy, my grade in Chemestry is steadily increasing, which is now at an 88%, and I got a nine on a revised essay in AP world (addmittedly, the two I got back that were only worked on in class were fives, but I'm willing to ignore that at the moment.) I just hope with Turoff's teaching, how ever off-kilter it is, and Dash-club reviews with the aid of the most wonderful Mrs. Turtledove, that I will be prepared for the exam.

Alas, I could go on for quite a while, but as it is, this entry is rather long, and I must read AP. Good thing its an interesting chapter on WWII, or I'd be very concerned about the time.

And the only other person I could call was the LA TIMES (!) entertainment listing editor, but all you had to do was fill out this spiffy form online which was very simple and didn't allow for unprofsional blunders. So check the papers, y'all!

On a more, umm, a different note, who was up to 3 last night finishing The Awakening for a book test? I was!
I'm sick. Wheeeee. I have a Chem test tomarrow, so wish me luck. I guarentee you, I'll need it.

As of late, I've started regularly viewing Pottersues, whom I now officially adore. Yey, pottersues!!

I also need to start calling listing editors. I have no time, but maybe tommarow if I'm lucky, since I doubt I'll be at Chatanooga rehearsal*--voice rapidly disapearing. Gug. *for those who don't know, for jazz band, me, Alice Choi, Erin Swift (I think that's her last name), and Jeff Mayer are singing a quartet of Chatanooga Choo Choo, which is a really catchy song from somewhere around 20s-40s. But yeah, larengitis isn't fun, even partially. Ah well, c'est lavie.
